How to Stream with StreamGeeks
When you signup with StreamGeeks, you can use our
special version of the OddCast Windows Stand Alone Stream Engine
with most of your settings already setup. All you have to do is run
the setup file to run the installer on the computer that you will be
streaming from and you will be streaming.
Notice about the above screen. Try to keep the
meters just hitting the red on the right of the meters. This way
your audio will be nice and loud without distorting to the
listeners.
In the Live recording frame, choose the audio card
and the input to stream from.
By Double Clicking on an encoder setting, you will
be able to adjust the configuration for that stream.
- Bitrates can be 24, 32, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112 or 128
depending on the level of streaming that you ordered.
- Sample Rate can be 22050, 32000 or 44100
- Channels can be 1 for Mono or 2 for Stereo
- Encoder Type should always be MP3Lame
- Server Type is Always Shoutcast
- Server IP is always StreamGeeks.com
- Your password is emailed to you
- MountPoint is always left empty
- Reconnect Seconds can be left at 10
YP Settings stands for Yellow Pages Settings. Click
the YP Settings button to adjust these settings.
- Public Server should always be checked. This will insure
that your stream is listed on the
www.ShoutCast.com website
for others to listen to. If unchecked, you will be a private
stream and unlisted.
- You MUST have a Stream Name. IE: 937 DJB or Kiss 100
Chicago.
- Stream Description can be left empty
- Stream URL is the location of your website and it MUST start
with http:// IE: http://www.StreamGeeks.com
- The Stream Genre MUST also contain a value like Pop, Oldies,
Christian, Modern Country, etc...
- The last 3 fields should remain empty or N/A
