How to legally broadcast music on the internet
Stream Geeks does not pay your performance fees,
therefore it is your responsibility to obtain licenses from BMI,
ASCAP and Sound Exchange. These fees can be rather high
depending on how many listeners, How much money your station makes,
etc...
Here is the most inexpensive way that we have
found to become legal.
We consider you a Pro Broadcaster if you are
generating money from your broadcast and/or you have streams hosted
outside LoudCity.
You'll still benefit from being part of our music community but
have the freedom to manage your advertising programs and choose your
streaming platform. You are required to direct your listeners to a
full-windowed launch page on LoudCity.com, but you'll be given the
option to upload a customized launch page as well.
You'll need to:
- have a stream host provider like Stream Geeks
- Allow us to monitor your audio servers for
royalty tracking purposes
- File monthly revenue/expense reports for
royalty tracking purposes
- Obtain a separate
SESAC
license if you'll be selling in-stream advertisements or
charging to access to your broadcast. They start at roughly
$200/year. We've got your other royalty obligations covered.
- Adhere to the
requirements
